John H. Patterson, Jr.
Managing Partner
John H. “Pat” Patterson, Jr. is the Managing Member of Patterson & Sweeny, PL, whose emphasis is commercial, real estate, landlord-tenant, probate, and family litigation and appellate practice. In 1985, Mr. Patterson was admitted to The Florida Bar and the United States District Court for the Southern District of Florida, and, in 1987, to the United States District Court for the Middle District of Florida.
Pat Patterson has been rated AV Preeminent by the Martindale-Hubbell Law Directory since 1991; he is a Member of the Eugene P. Spellman American Inn of Court; and he has been a Member of the Eleventh Circuit Unlicensed Practice of Law Committees: 11(C)(1991-1999), and its Chairman (1998-1999); 11(B)(2000-2006); and, 11(C) (2009-present); and a Member of the Eleventh Circuit Grievance Committee 11(C)(2000-2003); Chairman (2002-2003).
Prior to his admission to The Florida Bar, Pat Patterson worked on Capitol Hill, Washington, D.C., as a Legislative Assistant for the Honorable Paul G. Rogers, Member of Congress, and as a Legislative Assistant and Federal Grants Coordinator for the Honorable Douglas C. Applegate, Member of Congress. Mr. Patterson was also the Washington Director for International Systems, Inc., and the President of Government Associates, Inc., both of which were federal consultants and lobbyists.
Pat Patterson graduated from the University of Miami School Of Law with a Juris Doctor degree in 1985, where he was on The Honor Council from 1984-85, and he graduated from Furman University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1976. Representative clients of Mr. Patterson include LVMH, Hublot, Pembury Management Services SARL, Paxton Holding Group Ltd., Ares Distribution Group, Inc., World of Fusion Corporation, Echidna Distribution Company, Lary Research & Development, LLC, MacBrud Corp., and Innovation Laboratories, Inc.
Mariela Gonzalez
Florida Registered Paralegal
Mariela Gonzalez is the senior Florida Registered Paralegal for Patterson & Sweeny, PL, whose practice areas include commercial, employment, and family litigation, probate proceedings, and appellate practice.
Ms. Gonzalez earned her Cuban Licenciatura en Derecho (i.e., Cuban Law License) in 1993, from the Universidad Central de las Villas, Marta Abreu, Law School in Santa Clara, Cuba. In 2000, she graduated Summa Cum Laude, with an Associate of Science Degree in Paralegal Studies, from the Florida National University. In 2019, she graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Art in Legal Studies, from the Florida National University.
Ms. Gonzalez has been a paralegal with Patterson & Sweeny, PL since 1999, its Office Manager since 2002, and a Florida Registered Paralegal since January 2011. She is fluent and literate in Spanish as well as English.
